Laundry Room Inspiration + Planning | Phase 1

The day has finally come! My Laundry Room Inspiration + Planning post. I have been waiting to get my hands on this green space for 2 years. It’s not at all necessary to renovate a laundry room. It’s a space to clean clothes. It’s functional. It has a door that can close it off.

But…

#PinterestMadeMeDoIt

So… Phase 1 of planning!

Planning is the key word in this post. Jeff challenged me to a “One Trip Renovation” aka one single trip to Home Depot for this one. So, I have to really plan out every single detail before hand to make this happen. Usually we do about 7 trips.

Think we can do it?

I know. The quality is stunning. Take it all in.

Ready?

Here is the ideal scenario…

The wallpaper trim is coming down, and the walls will be my go to Taupe Tease.

This paint color is all over our home.

It’s the perfect warm white. It is in our guest room, our playroom, and Julia’s room.

These cabinets are going to the basement workshop. I can’t handle them and their odd floating ways.

Jeff wants to build a single cabinet. About 36″ tall. The cabinet will hold overstock of detergent, as well as our steamer, iron, and washer bags. Why build it you ask? Because we are annoying like that. Why buy something stock, when you can spend a month learning to build a cabinet yourself?

We are incredibly specific humans, so it will give us an odd amount of excitement to walk into the laundry room daily and be filled with pride at the sight of a handmade cabinet and fits perfectly in the space.

Next up, I want a wood ledge across the top of the washer and dryer, but our washer opens up on top so it can only be about a foot deep. I Want this to be like a butcher block. We will also be building this by take multiple boards and compressing them into one with the seams at the top. So from the front it will be a seamless face, and then the butcher block lines will show on top.

We will also have a rod going from the cabinet to the wall to hang clothes to dry. (See photo #3) We are between a wooden rod and an industrial rod like we did for the curtains in the guest room.

I also want a longer sleek matte black handle. I went to Rejuvenation since we only need 1 handle, but some of their prices made me spit my water out. Where do you get your gorgeous cabinet handles? Tell me your secrets!

And lastly, I’m debating a removable wallpaper. I would only go with removable in here so it will be the last step anyways. I’m thinking I will wait until the end to decide but I have my eye on a few. Of course I love this Joanna Gaines one, but it’s legit wallpaper so it’s a solid no. Plus, its pricey for the small corner I’ll be needing.

Or I could do fabric wallpaper again?

Now… Here are the inspiration photos.

1| Good Ole JoJo Gaines

Obviously the floor is gorgeous. My aunt has always has floors similar to this and I just love them. We won’t be changing flooring out right now, but I love to have the full picture and this is a good one. The coloring is gorgeous. The handles, the paint color, the raw wood counter. I could pull from all of it.

Neutral colors, sleek hardware. Super similar to JoJo. So clearly there is a path infant of me. I love this ledge and the picture frames. Who says a laundry room can’t have frames in it?

I also bought glass jars at Home Goods for $7!!! So that jar has my heart. I love a refillable glass container. These are really pretty on Amazon and under $25 for 3!

I love the cabinet color here, but I’m more drawn to the matte black hardware in JoJo’s. I think I’ll be grabbing hardware from rejuvenation since we won’t need more than one or two pieces. We won’t have a sink, but this clothing rack bar is legit. Also that laundry bag on wheels Is magic.
