So, we did it! We bought a house in Georgia!
We spent 11 days up in Atlanta finding a home, and I think we found a home that Reegy will flourish in for years to come. It’s really exciting. Design collages to come!
In the midst of house hunting and inspections, we escaped to the mountains for a few days. It was much much needed and made me so excited to move to Georgia. When we lived in California, my favorite part of it was that we could get in the car and drive to anything. There was no excuse for boredom. Georgia is the same. (But maybe better. Shh!)
There is the hustle and bustle of the city: concerts, foodie delight, craft beers, and then just north, there’s hikes and nature galore. (We even have Kennesaw Park near the house for trails on a pretty day!) Georgia’s Red Top Mountain in Acworth will definitely be a regular family staycation. I love that Reegan will be able to enjoy these trails, even as a city kid. It’s absolutely gorgeous, and I can’t wait to show my mom.
Jeff’s parents booked a cabin for us to all meet up at, and I had honestly no idea what was in store. But for a few days, we were able to relax and take in the calming noises of nature. Jeff and I took Reegan for a walk on a trail and even played in the lake for a bit. (In less than a foot of water, because I’m terrified of alligators.) Plus, much to my personal delight, we made s’mores in the pit off our cabin.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom cabin on the lake for $175 a night. And it had a kitchen! The customer service was great too. The refrigerator broke our first day there, and My Father-In-Law called to let them know, the park ranger brought us ice and a cooler bag within an hour and replaced the frig the next morning. All with a smile on her face.
I am so excited to start sharing my favorite parts of Georgia with you. The official move wouldn’t be until December but we have home design layouts and inspirations in store, as well as my favorite places to take Reegan. This is going to be the best kind of adventure.
Back to America!!!
