Sealing Bath Toys || #MomHack

A few weeks ago my mother-in-law was in town and told me about a great mom hack. Reegan has a few of these plastic figurines that she is obsessed with. She’s been wanting to use them in her water table and in the bath tub, but they have these holes in the bottoms. I didn’t want mold growing inside so I just kept saying no. And meltdowns would immediately follow. But MIL told me to just hot glue gun the hole closed!

WHAT! That is so simple and genius.

It’s basically the easiest mom hack DIY post of all time, but I had to share.

It takes less than 5 minutes.

I wiped them all down, made sure they had time to dry inside, and then lined those babies up.

One by one I just hot glued gunned the hole closed by placing the nose of the glue gun into the hole and slowly filling it. It won’t fill the whole toy so don’t worry. It’ll just puddle around the bottom hole.

I suggest using a lo-temp glue gun. This makes sure the plastic doesn’t melt on the toy. And it cools off quickly. You’ll want to tap the half dried glue to flatten it as much as you can.

Some of them do bubble, because of the air inside. Just tap the glue down or wipe it off, and if necessary re-glue it until they don’t bubble.

I sanded a few of the glue dots down with 220 grit sand paper 2 days later. (Make sure to give them time to dry!) It was enough to even out the dried glue bumps, but not rip the glue off or damage the toy.

I’m sure I’ll have to redo a few as we go, but this just made showers 1,000x easier for me.

** These plastic sets come in a bag and are awesome. We have Pooh, Princesses, and the Clubhouse sets. And she plays with them everyday. Absolutely a great gift! **
