Pottery Barn Sectional Review | A love letter to my couch.

People probably thought I was joking on Instagram Stories when I said I was going to write a love letter to my couch. But once it came out of my mouth, it burned in my soul to share.

Why We Choose a Pottery Barn Sectional :

Jeff and I do not spend a ton on furniture. When we moved into this monster of a house (Hello, Georgia!) we had lived in less than 1,200 sq feet our whole adult lives, and the 3 years previous to buying the first home we lived in a furnished apartment overseas. We owned nothing.

Everything we purchased was from Ikea, Target, Rugs USA, Wayfair, or gifted to us as furniture from our grandparents and parents.

When we talked couches, it was a huge deal for the words Pottery Barn to be involved.

My friend has the PB Comfort Sectional and it’s just the coziest. But what sold it was the fact that she and her husband had had it for YEARS and it still looked fantastic! We decided to shop around to “save money”. We shopped around a lot. After exhausting every option – we just knew what we really wanted to do.

We taped it out on the floor, we made a Pottery Barn interior designer come to talk to us in our house, and we waited… for a sale.

When the sale happened I could feel my heart racing as I purchased the most expensive thing I had ever pressed confirm on. And gasp – it was nonreturnable.

We have now had this light gray couch for over four and a half years and I wouldn’t trade it for any other couch. It fits a ton of people, and it’s toddler-friendly.

Things You Should Know Before Purchasing a Pottery Barn Couch

Get the couch wedge!

My friend drilled this into my mind and I thank her nightly as I curl up in the corner of the couch like a 3-year-old. The wedge provides an additional seat basically, is barely a pricing difference, and just makes the corner that much more comfy. You will live in the wedge. Don’t skip it.

Performance Fabric is a MUST.

Pottery Barn has fabric levels. You may think to save a few coins by not doing their performance fabrics… stop yourself. This is where money is MADE. I have dropped chocolate cupcakes, spilled red wine, cleaned up spilled coffee cups, and food pouches with ease on a regular basis because of this unicorn fabric. This fabric is what makes the couch fantastic. Spills wipe off with a damp cloth. Don’t question it. 3.5 years later and I’m still just wiping spills off.

Pottery Barn Shipping

It takes a few weeks to come in. Like 6-8 weeks. So plan ahead.

Measure

Measure. Tape. Measure. and Tape Again. You can not return these sectionals. They are made to order. I can not stress that enough. We taped ours out on the floor.

Pottery Barn Sales

Wait for a sale. They do go on sale! Friends and Family happen a few seldom times a year and save the bank. If you are worried about the price tag, hold.

EXACTLY What We Have

We have the PB Comfort Sectional with the Roll Arm. We did the upholstered version instead of the slipcover, which made me nervous but has worked out great.

Our old apartment had slipcovers from Pottery Barn (I can’t find them on the site right now) and they are incredible. You get what you pay for with fabrics. The slipcovers lived through 3 years of messes, and are now living at my mom’s house on her couch and she is equally in love with them. They are worth every penny.
