Floating vases are a clean and easy way to add texture to a space without feeling overwhelmed or married to an idea.
I used this floating vases in Julia’s Nursery as well as our previous powder room.
In this house, we have a massive blank wall in the Master Bedroom. I didn’t want another piece of furniture to fill up, and art work to scale would have been incredibly expensive. And to be super honest, I don’t love gallery walls. Yes. I love photo ledges, but I feel easily cluttered.
I decided to play around with the floating vases and it added a great vibe to the room.
These vases are so easy to hang, and only a small nail holds them up. If I change my mind down the line, it’s practical a push pin worth of damage to the wall.
How to Plan a Floating Vase Wall
Painters tape is your friend. I used a roll we had to map out the visual.
Longer pieces where I would put the cylinder vases, and short pieces where I was using the round vases.
I found the center line in the wall and decided to split the line. Putting no vases directly center.
I happened to have 20 vases total, so we have 10 on each side of the “line”
The process is just moving tape around, stepping back, moving tape around, holding the vases up to feel out spacing, and then eventually tracing the hole on the vase to mark where on the tape to hammer in the nail.
As we put in nails and hung vases, I would step back to see if I still liked where each tape piece was.
They are all hung above a certain height because we have toddlers.
Once the vases were hung, I pulled out some dry florals to test run.
We realized that we loved the lavender in person, too many of the faux white magnolia’s felt bulky, and baby’s breath was a great filler.
