From the paint color to the faucet plate. Every single little detail and source for the navy half bathroom.
The Inspiration
When searching navy paint colors, I came across this stunning entryway photo on Pinterest and couldn’t look back. Our half bath is small but has high ceilings and crown molding. I know down the line we can add more dramatic molding to the walls.
I dove in.
I gathered a few inspirational photos and then went details by detail to get us to where I wanted to be.
The Paint
BEHR Chimney is on the walls, the trim, the ceiling. My office at our last house was an Ink Well navy, but I didn’t have the guts to do the ceiling then. The white square drove me crazy for 3 years. I knew the next time, I was going all in.
I spotted BEHR’s Chimney pigment in ISpyDIY’s One Room Challenge (shown below) and barely tested it before grabbing it in eggshell (walls, semi-gloss (trim), and flat (ceiling). My husband still thinks I might be a little nuts. But I love a dark cave of a bathroom.
The Faucet
The pedestal sink seems to be an original build grade puny little sink. I’m ignoring it for now until I can get this baby. But until then, this sink faucet from Amazon is under $40 and so so good. I wanted a piece that was strong and structured while being a throwback.
I originally thought the sink only had one hole, but it’s a 3 hole sink that was covered by an old faucet. We ordered this faucet plate on Amazon for about $10 and it completed the project.
I also upgraded to this $12 push drain. It’s a little bigger of a drain plate and looks polished.

The Light
In the original entryway photo, I loved the milk glass structured pendant. The ceilings are so high (about 9-10 feet) that a vanity light just never felt right. I tried 3.
I decided to call in an electrician and move the box to the center of the ceiling.
Deciding to do something like this might give you momentary anxiety. Remind yourself that none of this is a face tattoo. And you can always change it again.
It turned out exactly as I had envisioned and makes me tickled to have taken the risk.
The Mirror
I got this mirror at Goodwill after tracking it down from an Emily Henderson showroom (shown above). This West Elm beauty weights 22.5 pounds. That’s more than my 21-month-old. I wanted to balance out the traditional molding and chrome fixtures with something strong.
Everything is dark and structured, so the edges of the mirror literally round out space.
The Rug
Honestly, I haven’t found the perfect one yet for the current budget. But I have been eyeing a few of these eBay vintage rugs. Once some bigger home decor fish are fried, I’ll bid on one of these babies.
I really want a 2.5×5, which is an odd size. So luckily the puzzle piece hasn’t come up yet. Instead, it’s been a few Amazon returns. Like this Loloi II rug, everyone raves about. It’s $50 and the design is printed on it. Which just didn’t feel right to me.
